Pinterest

Pinterest supports images, videos, and carousels. Every pin is published to a board you pick, and can open a destination link.

Post types

Type	API value	What it publishes
Image	image	One image pin.
Video	video	One video pin.
Album	album	A carousel pin of 2 to 5 images. Videos can't be added.

Text-only pins don't exist on Pinterest, so text posts aren't supported.

Boards

A pin always goes to a board, so a Pinterest schedule needs one:

• In the dashboard, pick the boards in the Pinterest Board card and set a time on each. The Pinterest account itself has no time of its own.
• Each board becomes a separate scheduled pin, so picking 3 boards creates 3 schedules.
• Through the API, send a board from Get Pinterest Board as additionalInfo.channel. A schedule without a board fails with "invalid board: please select a Pinterest board".

Media requirements

Images

• Formats: JPEG, PNG.
• File size: up to 20 MB per image.
• Aspect ratio: 2:3 (for example 1000 × 1500 pixels) shows best in the feed.

Videos

• Formats: MP4, MOV, or M4V, encoded with H.264 or H.265.
• File size: up to 2 GB.
• Duration: 4 seconds to 15 minutes.

Pinterest processes a video before it can be pinned. Repliz waits up to 5 minutes for it; if Pinterest is still processing by then, the schedule fails with "timeout processing the video on Pinterest" and you can retry it.

Carousels

• 2 to 5 images, each following the image requirements above.
• The destination link, if you set one, is used for every image of the carousel.

Text limits

• Title (title): up to 100 characters. It's the pin's title.
• Description (description): up to 800 characters.
• Alt text (medias[0].alt): up to 500 characters.

Longer text is cut at the limit when the pin is published.

• Thread replies, repost, and the bulk schedule sheet aren't available for Pinterest.
• Pins can't get automation, because Pinterest doesn't let apps read or reply to comments.
